Please note that bids are being accepted for various items as noted in the newsletter. These bids will be gone thru by the new board the first meeting in February. If we do not get enough board members to be able to accept the bids then the association cannot function

Also please be mindful of the speed limits as there are a lot of children and bicyclists and so forth on the streets so be careful I myself have been passed several times as I have come into the community past the 35 mph speed limit sign

President’s Message – November 2014

12 Nov

Well welcome to everybody

We had the Halloween party on October 31 st this year. We had a really nice turnout. I would esti- mate a turnout of close to two hundred people. Everybody had a great time guess the kids went trick or treating on marine drive and then all came to the park. Much thanks to the Worcester’s for

coordinating this event.
The next event will be the Christmas party. Hope to have a great turnout for that

Just a reminder we will be having the wine and cheese membership drive the middle of January. This is where people are nominated for the IOP board. We meet once a month the first Tuesday of the month and the meeting normally lasts an hour. It would be really great to see some new faces on the board.

Also please be mindful of the speed limits as there are a lot of children and bicyclists and so forth on the streets so be careful.

Thanks in advance for your support of our community

President’s Message – October 2014

16 Oct

Well welcome to fall

Just want to mention we lost another long time resident who also moved away Bill Kirk. He had been on the board several times and was a great asset to the community. He helped a lot of people get their houses out here and will be missed.

Well its now October and we have two more parties left for the year . the Halloween party and the Christmas party. Hopefully we will have a great turnout for both.

Also as noted there is still not a secretary for the association. We really need for people to volunteer to help out the association because without volunteers we would not be able to have the events that we have and the way of life that we are all used to.

Also the end of the year is only 2 months so please keep in mind that in January will be the membership drive where the new board will be nominated. Would really like to see some of the new people that have moved into the neighborhood volunteer to be on the board. After all the board meeting in only one Tuesday evening a month.

Also I believe the triathalons are thru for this year. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped out for these events. They help provide income for the association for park maintenance and functions and such.

Also thanks to Michael and Jennifer Land for having a party at the party. They provided everything theirself just to be neighborly and extend a welcome out to everyone. We did have a nice turnout

Thanks in advance for your support of our community

President’s Message – September 2014

8 Sep

Hello Everyone

Well here it is the middle of August. All of the children went back to school on Monday.

Even though it is mentioned otherwise in the newsletter I would to ask to please obey the speed limits. The high schoolers at the end of my street almost got all wiped out by a truck leaving and almost ran them all over. So please try and slow down.

Also as noted there is still not a secretary for the association. We really need for people to volunteer to help out the association because without volunteers we would not be able to have the events that we have and the way of life that we are all used to.

On another note not sure how many people knew him but we lost a good friend and a longtime resident of the IOP. Even though he moved away years ago he is still considered as such due to the efforts he put forth for this community. We will be having a memorial service at the park (asked for by his wife) on August 23.

Our next event coming up will be the Halloween party. I really hope that we see a good turnout.

Also the end of the year is only 4 months so please keep in mind that in January will be the membership drive where the new board will be nominated. Would really like to see some of the new people that have moved into the neighborhood volunteer to be on the board. After all the board meeting in only one Tuesday evening a month.

Thanks in advance for your support of our community

President’s Message – June 2014

5 Jun

Here it is the beginning of June.

Today, June 2nd, I noticed one of the picnic tables at the park was destroyed. I hope that whoever damaged it was just clowning around and didn’t get hurt. Also, beer bottles were smashed on the bathrooms. This is vandalism and if caught we will prosecute. This is the second incident in as many months. Take pride in our park – KEEP IT CLEAN!

Please take a moment to review the park rules that are posted on our website at isleofpines.org. Out of respect for others, please follow the rules. They are there to protect everyone.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the father’s day fishing tournament and fish fry this month. The community’s participation is what makes this event so special.

The Rajun Cajun is our annual fund raiser we host to support our community. Through this effort we are able to afford improvements to the park and facilities. These funds also contribute to the functions we host throughout the year. This year’s event was a success. Sounds like everyone had a great time.

We have a couple of open positions to complete board. The position of secretary is still open. The community is grateful for any time you can share to keep this neigh- borhood running.

The fence to the left of the main gate is on the schedule to be installed next week Remember: If you can hear your dogs barking – other people can hear it too. Have a safe 2014

Hello Everyone

Well here it is the beginning of May. This year is sure going by fast. Kids will soon be out of school for the summer. Please be aware of this and try to maintain the 35 MPH speed limit.

We have a (better late then never) Cinco De Mayo party on May 10, 2014

We have the Rajun Cajun coming up which is our annual fund raiser that we have to support our community. Through this effort we are able to afford improvements to the park and facilities and also the functions that we have.

We do still have a couple of open positions so as to have a full board. And the position of secretary is still open.

Also have been asked to remind people that if they hear their dogs barking a lot that other people can hear it also.

Also would to offer my condolences to the McGlashan family. Larry left us on April 8,2014

President’s Message – April 2014

7 Apr

Glad to hear everyone made it thru the tornado we had last week. I know some people had damage like my neighbor whose trailer was destroyed by a falling tree, the community experienced lots of yard debris and some residents noticed damage to their roof. I’m pleased to report I have not heard of any neighbors who were injured during the storm.

We had a beach cleanup a couple of weeks ago and just had the normal people plus one new person show up. We need your help to keep the beach clean! I know making time to volunteer is hard, but these cleanups are needed for our community to succeed. The more people who volunteer, the easier it is on everyone who participates in our clean ups.

On Saturday, April 12, we have the IOP Easter Party and a triathlon. The kids really have a good time rounding up eggs and watching their parents and other adults search for eggs.

The Saint Patrick’s Day party was a success. We really had a good turnout. Many thanks to Mike Land for coordinating this event.

We have the Rajun Cajun coming up which is our annual fundraiser supporting the Isle of Pines community. This event enables up to afford improvements to the park and facilities as well as the seasonal events we have throughout the year.

We have a couple open positions on the board including the secretary position.

Please remember that even though we have a nice, new paved road the speed limit is still 35 mph so please drive carefully.

Also, I have been asked to remind people that if they hear their dogs barking a lot, other people can hear it to.

Have a safe 2014

President’s Message – March 2014

5 Mar

Hello Everyone,

Well welcome to 2014 . Even though it is March it is still a new year . First off I would like to take the opportunity to thanks Terry Aikens for being president for the two past years. Great job Terry

We have a lot of events coming up this year the Easter party, fathers day fishing and July 4 just to name a few. These are what makes this a unique community. If you talk to other people and ask what do you get from your association they mostly just say the grass cut and a lot of rules to follow. Well we try to do things as a community that people would enjoy.

I have been a resident of the IOP for over 25 years and have raised my three children here. They love it out here so much that one left and then bought a house here and moved back., I also know of other neighbors that have the same thing.

Please try to help the association as much as you can REMEMBER all board members are volunteering their time and could use all the support we can get .

We do still have a couple of open positions so as to have a full board. And the position of secretary is still open.

Please remember that even though we have a nice new paved road the speed limit is still 35 mph so please drive carefully.

Have a safe 2014

President’s Message – January 2014

The longer I live in the IOP the more I realize how distinctive our neighborhood is. Not because the homes look alike and the yards are perfectly manicured, but be- cause all the homes are unique. There are many different types of homes, gardens, manicured yards, yards left to nature and an abundance of trees. The IOP has so much nature surrounding our borders with the Isle of Pines Preserve and the lake. I feel as we are separated from the growth that has happened in many parts of Orlando that the IOP is very peaceful and relaxing place to live, like going camping but having all the comforts of home.

It has been a privilege to serve as a steward on the IOP board for many years. At the Annual Wine and Cheese event IOP members will vote the 2014 IOP board members into office. The first meeting in February, the IOP board will elect the executive board into office. Also the board will vote on bids and events for 2014 calendar year. This upcoming year the 2014 IOP board will look for events and opportunities to enhance our association for its members.

See you all there!
